A woman believed to have been in the company of Meru priest who was stabbed to death claims the two have been in a relationship for the last six years.

The woman who works as a waitress in a guest house in Nkubu town, is said to have been drinking with Eutychus Murangiri before he was stabbed on Tuesday, June 4.

A report by the Standard shows, in her statement, the 25-year-old woman told detectives she started dating Murangiri in 2013 when she was still in college in Embu.

They would routinely met in Meru town on Mondays, which was the priest’s day off from work, he would drive from Limbine while the woman would use public transport from Nkubu.

However, the woman also told detectives that she was also dating another man who is a teacher in Kajiado and that she was five-months pregnant with his child.

While recounting the events of the fateful day, the woman said the two met in Meru town on Monday, June 3, and drove to a hotel for lunch where they were joined by a mutual friend.

This friend is said to have been unemployed and Murangiri was picking up the tab.

According to police, the woman said at about midnight she left the two men and went to the room booked for her and the priest whereas the friend had been booked in a separate room.

“She said she was tired, excused herself and went to the room. The two men were left drinking,” a police source was quoted.

The woman told police she was later woken up by a manager who told her the priest had been stabbed.

The priest is said to have left the club where he was drinking in the company of his friend and walked towards the Meru-Maua junction to buy miraa before they parted ways.

It is believed that he met his killers when he walked back to his car, which he intended to park closer to the guest house.
