Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship side Western Bulls RFC on Saturday stormed into the quarter finals of the Enterprise Cup after Wasps from Egerton University withdrew from the tourney.

The withdrawal of Wasps from the annual competition saw Bulls awarded four points on a score margin of 24-0 and a ticket to feature in the quarter-finals of the competition, which features only Kenya Cup and Championship League teams.

Bulls Coach Bramwel Shikanda told Nation Sport at the Echulusi Bull ring in Kakamega that the free points gained would enable them battle for the title in the competition in which they last featured in 2017.

During the 2017 tourney, Bulls were eliminated by Mwamba RFC in the quarter-final stage.

“This time round we are determined to reach the finals of the 2019 Enterprise Cup competition and if possible, lift the title,” he said.

He disclosed that he had lined up a strong squad to confront the students.

Shikanda said among his players included in his outfit were the team’s Championship League top scorers prop Derrick Ashihundu, flanker Kevin Mutaly and lock Treasure Odundo.
