Poor organisation is threatening to disrupt the Fiba zone five basketball club championships scheduled to tip off at the Dar es salaam indoor courts Sunday afternoon.

Already Egypt, Rwanda and the Kenya Ports Authority men’s and women’s basketball teams rejected the accommodation facility that had been booked for them by the championships local organizing committee and had to look for alternative accommodation on their own.

The teams complained that the Travertine Hotel, which hosted the National teams during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers had been neglected for long and was not therefore hospitable.

“The rooms are very stuffy and filthy, an indication that the hotel has not been busy. Infact I saw a rat in one of the rooms which made me conclude that it wouldn’t be the best accommodation for us,” said Joseph Amoko, the KBF fixtures secretary, who is also the federation’s representative in charge of the KPA teams as the teams were relocated to the nearby New Bondeni Hotel at Magomeni Mapipa for an overnight stay.

“We have to get a temporary place for the teams and look around for a permanent solution since the teams will be here till October 8,” Ogutu said.
