Investigations into the murder of Monica Kimani took a new twist after police conducted a near-nightlong search in the house of Jacque Maribe and two others seizing several items.
Among the items that were recovered are partially burnt clothes that were found behind a house in Langata where well-placed sources divulged to Citizen TV that the key suspect Joseph Irungu may have shot himself in a suicide attempt.
Police took the pieces of burnt clothes for DNA testing to establish if they are the same clothes Irungu was wearing at the time of the incident which left him with a wound on the left side of the pelvic area.
A gun believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered during the raid.
The gun reportedly belongs to one Mr. Brian Kasaine who resides in a neighboring house.
Following the raid, police arrested Kasaine who now becomes the third suspect in the gruesome murder of 28 year old Monica Kimani.
Maribe was arrested on Saturday after three rounds of interrogation and is currently being held at Gigiri police station.
Reports indicate that she will be presented in court on Monday.
Earlier on police had impounded and dusted Maribe’s car in a bid to establish if there was any link with the murder of Kimani.
Police also arrested Kasaine alongside Jacky Maribe with the two in police custody and are aiding with investigations.
