Journalist Jacque Maribe has been remanded for another 10 days at Gigiri police station to allow police continue with investigations into her involvement in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani two weeks ago.

Kiambu court allowed police to continue holding Maribe for 10 days to continue with investigations.

This is after the prosecution successfully petitioned the court in Kiambu to detain the journalist in order to both conduct further investigations and protect the investigation from any undue influence or tampering of evidence and witnesses.

Maribe’s lawyer Katwa Kigen was keen to urge the court to review the circumstances of her detainment, revealing that she was suffering intimidation and verbal abuse from other detainees in the cells.

Her boyfriend and chief suspect Joe Irungu and mutual friend and neighbor Brian Kasaine are also in police custody as further investigations continue to unravel the mystery surrounding Kimani’s death.

Kasaine has also been held in connection with the murder after police found a gun believed to be one that was used to inflict the gunshot wound on Irungu in his house.

Three of her colleagues are apparently assisting the police in their investigations by virtue of being in her company on the night of the murder.

The businesswoman who was found murdered in her apartment in Kilimani was buried on Friday in Gilgil, Nakuru.
