Two brothers from Kilungu, Makueni county have been arrested after they allegedly killed a man they suspected had a sexual affair with their mother.
Boniface Masavu and Kyalo Masavu are said to have stormed their mother’s house at around 10pm on Tuesday, June 4, upon which they descended on Onesmus Kivuva hacking him to death.
Police later discovered the body of the deceased about 300 meters from his home in Mbukuni village, Kilome sub-county.
According to police report, Kivuva’s body had deep cuts on the neck, face and head.
His hands were tied from the back, an indication of a planned attack.
Assistant county commissioner Rabecca Ndirangu confirmed arrest of the woman, adding all suspects are expected to be arraigned as soon as investigations conclude.
“The men may have killed the man on suspicion that he was dating their mother,” said Rebecca.
A neighbour, Muthini Kilonzo, told TUKO.co.ke the attackers had warned the 52-year-old victim but it fell on deaf ears.
” It was about 10pm when we heard someone screaming for help at our neighbours. When we ran to respond we found a man lying in a pool of blood. The man was cut using a machete. He had a deep cut on the neck and panga cuts on the face,” said Kilonzo.
The man was said to have had an open relationship with the widow but her sons were against it.
It is believed the two had knowledge as to when the man usually sneaked into their mother’s house.
The body was taken to Kilungu hospital mortuary.
