Jubilee Insurance #ticker:JUB has partnered with Jumia Travel, Ole Sereni Hotel and local fitness centres to set up a wellness programme aimed at boosting healthier lifestyle choices among Kenyans.
Dubbed the Maisha Fiti Scheme, Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed Jubilee Insurance policy holders will sign up at no extra cost to access discounts at different organisations that promote physical and mental well-being.
Other partners in the deal include sports clubs Wadi Degla Clubs, Muscle Health gyms and fitness store Nairobi Sports House.
The move is aimed at combating lifestyle diseases such as high blood pressure, heart diseases, and diabetes as well as mitigating the high cost of healthcare.
According to the World Health Organisation, non-communicable diseases account for 27 per cent of all deaths in Kenya and 50 per cent of hospital admissions. “Health promotion and disease prevention through healthy lifestyle changes are poorly supported in our healthcare system where focus is primarily on medication or other forms of medical care. We believe that providing health information to individuals is important to improving wellness because many people believe they are healthier than they actually are,” said Jubilee Insurance Group CEO Julius Kipng’etich in a press statement.
Other partners in the deal with Jubilee include travel agency Bonfire Adventures, Leopard Beach Hotel, nature getaway The Forest, Text Book Centre, health products shop Healthy U, mobile healthcare application Simway and grocery retail chain Zuchini. The Maisha Fiti programme also includes specialised services targeted at older people, mothers and people suffering from conditions such as hypertension and arthritis.
The programme follows a push last year by Jubilee Insurance to digitise its service delivery by eliminating use of diaries by agents, the traditional use of paper to document every transaction, and the necessity for customer-agent interaction to facilitate transactions.
