There is hope in the horizon for Migori Youth FC as Migori County Government have mooted plans to offer them full sponsorship, the County Director of Sports Silas Jonyo has revealed.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Jonyo said plans are underway to sponsor the team which has been grappling with financial challenges.
Jonyo said they have been moved by the good performance of the team which is currently playing in the National Super League, asserting that the aim of the sponsorship is to make the team better.
He said the department is also keen at supporting other clubs in the county by donating sport wears, financial support, among others, as a way of improving soccer in the county.
In a separate interview, club chairman Abdi Aziz said they have had talks with the governor and officials of the county sport department who promised support the team.
Migori Youth tackle Nairobi City Stars in Nairobi from 3pm this afternoon, and Aziz has termed the match a “do or die affair”.
Stars are placed 16th in the League table on 34 points while Migori is at rock position 17 with a paltry 31 points.
Migori is also slated to play against Kangemi All-Stars this Sunday.
