Several Students of Kiamuringa Mixed secondary school in Mbeere South Sub County were Sunday forced to look for an alternative place to spend the night after their dormitory was reduced to ashes by fire whose source is still a mystery.

The fire incident happened when students were in their classes for evening classes. Efforts to put off the fire by the students and well-wishers were futile.

The county government fire department is also said to have responded late.

Deputy County Commissioner Beverly Oporwa and the Mbeere South Sub County Police Commander Mohammed Ahammed said police have commenced investigations to establish the cause of the fire.

Area MP Geoffrey King’ang’i has meanwhile donated money to cater for essential services for the students who lost their properties during the inferno.

King’ang’i assured parents that the burnt dormitory will be repaired as soon as possible.
