A section of the newly constructed Sh5.2 billion Port Reitz – Moi International Airport access road caved in on Sunday, sparking fears among residents.

The road provides a key link to the newly constructed second container terminal at the Port of Mombasa.

President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the road’s construction on January 9, 2016. At the time, he said that when completed the road will increase investment and trade opportunities in the East and Central Africa region.

The project was jointly funded by the British Government through TradeMark East Africa and the Government of Kenya.

The British Government funded the construction at Sh2.7 billion, while Kenya will paid Sh2.5 billion for the compensation of land owners.

Tens of Mombasa West residents on Sunday rushed to the scene of the caved road to take pictures and videos.  They demanded answers from the Chinese contractors.

Some took to social media to post the pictures and videos of the caved in section, blaming it on poor workmanship.

ROAD IS SINKING

“The road is slowly sinking and drivers should exercise caution,” Watene Kioko said on Facebook.

Mombasa county Transport and Public Works Executive Tawfiq Balala said the affected section lies within the island-bound service road near a footbridge.

“Reconfiguration of the traffic flow has been instituted to allow for reinstatement of the affected section. It appears like an old well. It seems the filling of the well was not done properly during construction of the road hence settlement of material,” Mr Balala said.

The executive said arrangements are underway to reinstate the section.

“The contractor, China Wu Yi is already on site to fix it. The failed section is being exposed to establish the depth and lateral extent of the damage,” he added.

Nation found contractors at the site repairing the damaged area.

A woman who claims to have discovered that her boyfriend had cheated on her has revealed how she got her own back – and it’s “pure evil.”

TikTok user Thea Loveridge said after she and her partner gave birth to their son, she discovered that he had been cheating on her the whole time she was pregnant with his ex, who she claims “caused drama” in their relationship.

Shortly after she found out, “he ended up going to jail”.

During this time, Thea said: “She was messaging him trying to figure out where he was, all confused why he wasn’t talking to her.”

But instead of telling her the truth about what really happened, “I messaged her and told her that he was dead” – and she didn’t stop there.

After getting his sister to go along with her plan too, she held a fake funeral for him and even sent out photos of the service.

“It’s been three years and she still thinks he’s dead,” he revealed.

“She posts little tributes every year on her Facebook page to the love of her life and how she’s so sorry that she couldn’t be there when he died to save him.”

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 1.1 million likes and almost 16,000 comments from viewers who were in hysterics over the lengths she went to.

One person said: “‘That uhm he was dead,'” adding a laughing emoji.

Most people are eagerly waiting to see Vera Sidika having her own kid(s). Over the years, rumours and photoshopped images of her with a baby bump have circulated the internet; and she’s rarely bothered by them. The fact that she bleached her skin makes it more interesting for fans who claim she will only give birth to dark skin babies.

Vera Comfortable With Mauzo

Even though the curvy socialite has been in many relationships, she didn’t seem to be ready to get kids with the men she had before; including Otile. At one time, she disclosed that she’ll only get kids with the person she will be ready to settle with. Vera might have just found the gem she was looking for; she seems comfortable with her current boyfriend Brown Mauzo, who she claims is treating her like the queen she is.

On her Insta story Q&A, she disclosed that wedding plans are underway; but she will only do a white wedding after the pandemic, to make it interesting. One of her fans asked;

”Should we await a white wedding maybe from you guys au hamtaki sherehe kubwa?”

Vera’s response;

”Yes. White wedding InshaAllah. Not now though. No ceremony is fun in this pandemic.”

In the same Q&A, Vera also disclosed she will get kids with Brown Mauzo in 2 years time.

I bet this is a long time for her online fans, who expect her to get a kid sooner; but it will be one of the greatest moments for the fans.
