– The governor had a hard time containing a crowd in Githurai 45

– Waititu got shouted down in disapproval as he tried to address some of the area residents

– All the events unfolded right before Deputy President William Ruto who spent the day with Waititu at various church services

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was left with a bad taste in his mouth after he was brutally heckled by his own electorate in Githurai on Sunday, June 2.

Waititu was in the company of Deputy President William Ruto and other ‘Tanga-tanga’ affiliated leaders as they attended a Sunday service at St Veronica Catholic Church.

Prior to that, the leaders were in Kahawa Wendani for another church service St Martin’s Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) and Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Kahawa Wendani which went fairly well.

However, once in Githurai, Waititu’s attempt to address residents was met with hostility as he frantically tried to calm them down.

Chants of “Hatutaki” and “Hakuna” rented the air once the under-fire governor took centre stage and he was forced to cut off his impromptu speech before he could properly address residents.

Amid the loud heckling, Waititu could be heard saying,”Ni sawa, lakini kile nataka mjue, (It’s Okay, but I want you to know)” before his speech is eventually drowned by angry chants.

It summed up what was quite the horrible weekend for Waititu, whose Madaraka day celebrations also did not go too well.

As TUKO.co.ke reported, Kiambu Madaraka day celebrations served up some drama as Waititu accused his deputy James Nyoro of conspiring with his political enemies to undermine him.

Before the event kicked off at Ndumberi Stadium, all appeared rosy between the two leaders.

But Waititu’s mood was instantly dampened when he realized there was no seat set aside for him as governor during the national event.
